Mushroom Berlin: Guided Foraging Tours in English
Mushroom course in Berlin – Learn identification and safe foraging
Many people are afraid of making mistakes when collecting wild mushrooms in Berlin.
This concern is justified, as some species are highly poisonous. At the same time, mushrooms have always fascinated humans – what kind of organisms are they? How can we tell which mushrooms are safe to eat and which can cause severe poisoning?
To answer these questions, we offer guided mushroom tours in Berlin as well as a mushroom course in English. With our mushroom expert Avi, participants learn how to identify edible species, avoid toxic lookalikes, and experience the diversity of mushrooms in Berlin’s forests.
Content mushroom berlin tour
Our mushroom tours in Berlin offer more than just foraging – they provide an introduction to the hidden world of fungi. Participants discover the essential role mushrooms play in ecosystems, how they interact with their environment, and why they are crucial for life on Earth, far beyond their culinary value.
During the walk, the focus is placed on the most common species found in Berlin’s forests and parks. By the end of the mushroom course, participants will have the confidence to recognize these species on their own. A key element is learning how to safely distinguish edible mushrooms from their poisonous counterparts. To ensure a safe experience, the course also includes clear guidelines on how to avoid mushroom poisoning.
Mushroom Berlin – explore the fascinating diversity growing all year round.
Although autumn offers the greatest variety, mushrooms can be discovered in every season.
Itinerary mushroom course
Our guided mushroom tours in Berlin last around three hours and take place on different dates and at various locations across the city. While autumn offers the greatest diversity of edible mushrooms, fascinating species can be observed throughout the entire year.
Details about dates and meeting points can be found in the overview above. Unless otherwise noted, our mushroom courses are designed for beginners – either with no prior knowledge or only very basic experience in mushroom identification.
After the tour, participants receive an email with access to short mushroom profiles and recommended reading material for further study.
The exact content of each course depends on the mushrooms available on the day of the walk, so the focus naturally shifts according to what we encounter in the forest. Please note that, due to weather conditions such as prolonged dryness, a tour may occasionally need to be cancelled at short notice. In such cases, participants will either receive a voucher or a full refund. To protect local populations, no mushrooms are collected during the tour.
